About Us

Our background, our ethos and team behind the Kiwi brand.

A s a client of Kiwi you can rest assured that your project will be as smooth and stress free as it can possibly be. We understand that undertaking large scale home renovations can very often be unsettling, but with Kiwi there is no need to worry. We are wholly committed to delivering a reliable and professional service with you – the client, at the centre of everything we do.

We pride ourselves on our ability to understand our clients needs. We work closely with both you and the architect throughout the entire process to ensure that we are creating contemporary spaces that are aesthetically pleasing and functional. We offer complete flexibility and will take the lead on projects to eradicate any unnecessary worry or stress. Our goal is to deliver projects that not only meet expectations, but surpass them.

Background

In 2009, lifelong friends James and Darren decided to combine their skills and experience to create a business that could offer home owners a complete solution when it comes to home renovations. James and Darren understand that the majority of homeowners are time poor, and dedicating the remarkable amount of time required to a large scale renovation is incredibly difficult. It was from this that Kiwi was born.

The two friends and now business partners enjoyed a gap year travelling together. Throughout all of their shared experiences the memories of New Zealand – how the country operated as a whole, the infrastructure, the community and open lines of communication – have always stayed with the pair. Which is why they choose Kiwi as their company name. For them, it represents honesty, openness and trust. Which is reflective of their core values as a business.

Over the years that have followed, the business has steadily grown and we now have a team of 10 full time employees. We also only work with an exclusive list of trusted expert suppliers to ensure that the finish is absolutely on point. You are assured that we do not sign off on a job until it meets with our exacting standards.

Work & Approach

Since inception, Kiwi have delivered an extensive range of projects varying in size from modest kitchen renovations to full domestic renovations and large scale extensions. So whether you’re considering a ground floor living extension, loft conversion or two story wrap around, Kiwi can and will, deliver.

We have been proud members of the Federation of Master Builders since 2012. Before being allowed to join, we were independently vetted and inspected. As current members we continue to be inspected every three years to ensure we are always operating within the expected standards. Giving our customers peace of mind that they are working with a deserved Master Builder.

We operate throughout the West Midlands and Worcestershire covering areas such as Birmingham, Solihull, Bromsgrove, Hagley, Alvechurch and Droitwich as well as the smaller surrounding villages. However, we are more than happy to consider projects further afield, simply get in touch for a free consultation to discuss.

Each project we undertake is unique and will be treated as such. Most commonly we are approached by clients from one of two angles: Those who have a clear idea of what they want to achieve, have had plans drawn up and simply want a quote for the completion of the project. And others who are exploring options for their property and what is possible in the realms of development. In this instance, we collaborate with our network of architects and designers to offer experienced suggestions on how best to move forward.

Once you have signed agreeing for us to carry out the work, a team is assembled along with a dedicated project manager, ensuring a day to day point of contact for the duration of the project. The project manager will oversee progress, provide status reports throughout and liaise between all parties to ensure smooth running.

We also work with LABC (Local Authority Building Control) or private building control companies to ensure all work conforms with building regulations.

Core Team

Discover more about the core Kiwi team – who we are, our role and where you can expect to deal with us on your project.

James

Co-founder and Director

Overseer of all! James will be the first and last face you see from the Kiwi team, although he is always on hand to support you through the project. Outside of work, he loves to snowboard and read… although not at the same time, he isn’t that clever – yet!

Darren

Co-founder and Director

Darren is one of the most organised men you will ever meet, he is always on site keeping things running smoothly. If he isn’t on one of our many builds he is probably playing golf or watching it.

Kate

Financial Director

Kate’s main job is to keep us all in line and keep the ship sailing straight, pretty much like her job at home looking after her three kids! At least she has plenty of practice dealing with us – and has the patience of a saint!

Nick

Project manager

Just call him Mr Healthy! Nick is a keen fitness freak (sorry Nick) and is into clean living. Luckily for us, he is also into a clean and well-operated workplace which makes him a brilliant project manager on many of our builds. Just don’t get him started on the subject of Kale!

Rich

Project Manager

Rich is as serious about his sport as he is about your project running smoothly. His keen eye of detail and exceptional organisational skills are a result of his military days. Now he enjoys complex project management making use of his architectural training. In his spare time, you will find him running for miles and training for Iron Man competitions.

Dan

Carpenter

Good carpenters are hard to find, so we are pleased to have Dan on the team. He is committed to his job and his attention to detail is phenomenal. Which explains his addiction to buying trainers, his collection could rival Imelda Marcos’ shoe museum.

Nathan

Site Operative

Nathan is our hands on man and can turn his hand to anything. He always keeps himself busy and when he doesn’t have a lump hammer in his hand you can find him helping out in the local soup kitchen or up some very steep and scary hills on his mountain bike.

Tom

Bricklayer and General Builder

Tom is a qualified bricklayer by trade. In more recent years he has moved into more general aspects of all building work and now is a dab hand at anything on a building site. Tom is a new dad so you might find him nursing plenty of energy drinks throughout the day but that doesn’t detract from his high-quality workmanship.

Brad

Site Operative

Brad is our newest recruit and currently training in all areas of building construction. Brad is young, good and keen to learn. He really gets involved and is definitely embracing all aspects of the building and development process, it’s great to have Brad onboard.
